Lucky number 7!  That's right folks, 7 years since we were last rogaining in Palmerston.  And a few new suburbs to boot!  The Autumn Fancies Urban Rogaine encompasses several of the more southern Palmerston suburbs and fringe bush areas too.  Mitchell Creek is a focal point and runs down the centre of the map.  Some of the tracks leading to the controls around the creek may provide the more adventurous rogainers with technical riding challenges and/or wet feet - do not wear your Sunday best!  Rogainers can choose to throw caution to the wind in the dirt / mud / long grass, or play it high and dry on a more suburban route.  All controls are accessible via paved roads or dirt tracks.  There is something for everyone - and you will get plenty of controls if you plan your route well!  (Challenge accepted)?!

There are three exciting events to choose from:

5 hr TRANSPIRATION (walk/run) - maps out at 1:00pm - event will run 3:00pm to 8:00pm.

4 hr BOTANICAL (cycle) - maps out at 1:30pm - event will run 3:30pm to 7:30pm.

3 hr LEAF PEEPER (walk/run) - maps out at 2:00pm - event will run 4:00pm to 7:00pm.

The Hash House is located at Woodroffe Primary School - plenty of shade - BYO chair.  A BBQ dinner is included in the entry fee and is available from 6:30pm to 8:30pm.

Teams must comprise a minimum of 2 people, maximum of 5 people.

Entry form is attached below!  Entries close on at 11pm on Tuesday 1st April 2025.

Looking forward to seeing everyone "Around Palmerston" at the Autumn Fancies Urban Rogaine!

Flyer 2502 FB

Happy New Year People,

To start the 2025 Rogaining Calendar we are organising an Urban Rogaine utilising the areas of Winnellie, Berrimah, Charles Darwin and Hidden valley. Hopefully, the weather will be in our side and all the tracks remain open. It is the Northern Monsoon season, who knows what will happen. But whatever does, we will be prepared to conduct an event that will test and hone your team's navigational prowess. There will be three separate course options that will suit you and your team, two on foot- 5 hr Meander and 3 hr Mini and one on bikes the 4hr Mash. MTBs are best, given that there will be controls on the southern side of the course in amongst mostly natural terrain and gravel tracks.

Date for a Mosey Monsoon Miler Urban Rogaine is Saturday 22nd February 2025

The Start and finish will be at One Mile Brewery, they will be feeding us in the evening with a delicious range of Pizza options.

Scoring for this event will be using MapRun6, please understand how to use it with your device, well in advance of the Event start. You will need to download the App to use it.

LITCHFIELD NATIONAL PARK

RESCHEDULED!  NOW ON SATURDAY 30th NOVEMBER, 2024

Se7en Again

After initially having to be postponed due to extreme fire danger and weather conditions, the Litchfield Bush Rogaine is BACK, with a few tweaks!  The Se7en Defi9ing Reasons Bush Rogaine is taking place in Litchfield National Park on Saturday 30th November, 2024.

There are Se7en good reasons to enter - see the flyer above!

The Hash House is located at the Litchfield Education Facility (located on the Florence Falls / Buley Rockhole road).  There are showers and toilets, a large undercover common area, green grass for camping and a water hole safe for swimming.

Given that the rogaine is taking place in November, it will probably be a tropical sultry Saturday, so we are proposing to extend the time allowed on the course by a couple of hours - it was 7 hours - now it is 9 hours.  NOTE - the original course itself has not changed - we are not increasing distance - but we ARE giving you more time.

Why?

Extra time provides you with the opportunity to swim in many of the cool places that Litchfield has to offer while still having a good crack at getting around to as many of the controls as possible without becoming too heat stressed.

Caveats around how Teams (of 2 to 5 people) can use the allocated time:

Teams can start the rogaine ANY TIME on Saturday 30th Nov.

Teams must not spend any more than 9 hours out on the course.

Teams must finish no later than 7:00pm on Saturday 30th Nov.

As a suggestion, you may wish to stagger your rogaine by doing say a 5 + 4 hour, or a 6 + 3 hour - breaking up the time spent out on the course by returning to the Hash House in-between, resting up, swimming, having lunch and then going out again.  Or perhaps you prefer to do a 9 hour peripatetic peregrination and complete the rogaine in one hit.  Having up to 9 hours out on the course provides ample rest time if conditions are hot and humid.  Fingers crossed it will be a bit overcast, or maybe there will be a little bit of rain?!

If you prefer to revert to a shorter wander, we are still conducting a 4 hour event from 2:00pm onwards.  All teams in the 4 hour event must be finished no later than 7:00pm.

Maps for the longer 9 hour event will be available from Friday evening onwards for those who wish to come down ahead of time and camp on Friday night, or any time on Saturday.  For the shorter 4 hour event, maps will be available 2 hours prior to the event start time on Saturday.

Camping is available on both Friday and Saturday evenings.

This is our last event for the year, as the Se7en Rogaine is now being held on what would have been the date of our annual Christmas Mystery Teams Event.  We might have stolen the date, but we haven't stolen Christmas!  On Saturday evening after the Se7en rogaine has concluded, we will conduct our annual Christmas Swap and Steal.  There will also be a fun, educational short quiz to keep you on your toes!

Event Fee includes Saturday Evening Meal and Sunday Morning Breakfast.

Please note that this event is still limited to a maximum of 42 persons in the Litchfield Education Facility campground.  You need to get in quick to secure your spot!

See the Entry Form below.  SAVE SOME BUCKS - EARLY BIRD entries close at 11pm on Sunday 24th November.

 SATURDAY 20th JULY, 2024

Coomalie Rocks and Ridges 3

Welcome!

Our next event is being held on Saturday 20th July at Coomalie Farm which is located east of the Stuart Highway on Coomalie Creek, approximately 83km south of Darwin.

The natural long ridges and occasional knolls interspersed with creek line gullies, saddles and spurs provide an ideal location for our first true bush rogaine of the year. This naturally unique and historically rich landscape provides rogainers with an opportunity to really grasp the map-to-ground principles of cross-country navigation. The features are obvious, and a good, accurate map of the area is supplied. This site was selected as an airfield by the military during World War II. It still has many relics of that time scattered around the location.

Course setters Simon and Ben Saunders are experienced in creating an interesting course that provides both an excellent training ground for novices to the sport and exciting challenges for the more experienced rogainers.

So, arouse your curiosity, inspire some friends to join you and come down to Coomalie to explore the Rocks, Ridges and Relics that this wonderful landscape has to offer!

The entry fee covers the costs of camping, dinner, breakfast, maps and insurance.  Maps out at 9am.  Event kicks off at 11am.

Entry form below.  Please DOWNLOAD the entry form to your device so that all of the BLUE fields in the form are activated.  The entry form is designed to be completed using Excel.  Please fully complete ALL BLUE FIELDS before submitting!

Early Bird entries close on Monday 15th July, 2024.  Send completed forms to This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it..
