SATURDAY 20th JULY, 2024

Coomalie Rocks and Ridges 3

Welcome!

Our next event is being held on Saturday 20th July at Coomalie Farm which is located east of the Stuart Highway on Coomalie Creek, approximately 83km south of Darwin.

The natural long ridges and occasional knolls interspersed with creek line gullies, saddles and spurs provide an ideal location for our first true bush rogaine of the year. This naturally unique and historically rich landscape provides rogainers with an opportunity to really grasp the map-to-ground principles of cross-country navigation. The features are obvious, and a good, accurate map of the area is supplied. This site was selected as an airfield by the military during World War II. It still has many relics of that time scattered around the location.

Course setters Simon and Ben Saunders are experienced in creating an interesting course that provides both an excellent training ground for novices to the sport and exciting challenges for the more experienced rogainers.

So, arouse your curiosity, inspire some friends to join you and come down to Coomalie to explore the Rocks, Ridges and Relics that this wonderful landscape has to offer!

The entry fee covers the costs of camping, dinner, breakfast, maps and insurance.  Maps out at 9am.  Event kicks off at 11am.
